God is doing so many exciting things at Teen Challenge! 

Every day is truly an adventure. I am just so thankful and happy to be walking through open doors of relationship and friendship with people on a daily basis. From the probation and parole officers to County Attorneys and jailers; it is so cool to get the green light to help people... and sometimes it feels we're getting a police escort right to the front door of need. It is also a blast when churches, business and community leaders contact us about partnering together!

Yesterday we had four guys and a new girl join their new cohorts at Teen Challenge. Two of the guys arrived by bus from St. Louis and Little Rock. Another guy has been homeless here in Iowa for 11 months and struggling with drugs and alcohol. His church friends, probation officer and County Attorney finally talked him into coming into Teen Challenge. There are so many stories I could tell. 

Next Monday is our 15th Annual Golf Marathon! I have been talking about it a little on my Facebook page and on this blog. To be honest, it is hard to believe we are already looking at the middle of September! 

If you are thinking about getting involved, please do! It is an awesome event! 

• The goal is to tee off shortly after sunrise and then try to get in 100 holes! 
• Van & Bonnie do their morning show on 1040 WHO Radio from the course. 
• There are students and staff to meet and hang out with. 
• There will be donuts, lunch, snacks, souvenirs and nice commemorative shirts that are given away to help make everyone's day truly memorable!
• There are some super nice hole prizes provided by our sponsors, including a tractor that can be won with a hole-in-one!
• And then at the end of the day there is an awesome dinner served that a chef will be preparing throughout the day. 
• And the final activity of the day is a short presentation by our Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds. It won't be a political speech, but rather an opportunity for her to share her heart about how life-controlling problems can rob you of so much life, but how there is hope to overcome the deadly destructive patterns of addiction. 

Yes, it is a rah rah rally all day for Teen Challenge. But that is why we do this event. So that we can raise money to keep doing what we're doing to help people experience the abundant life that Jesus talks about in the Bible.  But Teen Challenge exists to build relationships - with Jesus Christ first and foremost! And with people who are hurting and with people who want to make a difference!  
If you would like to volunteer to help with this event, please give me a call or shoot me an email! We can use some additional volunteer help if you would like to be a part! 

If you would like to golf, we can still make room for a participant or a foursome or two. I can give you the details if you are interested. And if you are interested in helping to make this event a success, I could really use a few more sponsors! Any size donation would really be appreciated! REALLY! After I post this on the web I am on my way to make two hospital calls this morning. Two applicants who are trying to get into Teen Challenge are really having a rough time in their lives right now. Their families are reaching out and we're here for them. We're here because of friends like you who help us make a difference! THANK YOU for making a difference with us!
