Christian Music Artist: Matthew West

I recently learned that there are many recording artists who have graciously used their influence to help get the Teen Challenge story out to more people. 

It is really awesome to hear that people like Brandon Heath, Moriah Peters, Rhett Walker and Tenth Avenue North have actually recorded videos promoting Teen Challenge.

Another really known Christian artist has recently released a song about Teen Challenge!

Out of the Darkness of addiction and into the light of recovery….

“Hello, my name is Jordan and I am a drug addict.”  That was the first sentence of a young man’s story that was sent to Matthew West, a Christian music artist who has released his newest album, Into the Light. There is a song on this album which features a song written about the testimony of Jordan, a Teen Challenge graduate. "Hello, My Name Is" is a powerful musical piece depicting the tearing off of old labels and putting on of new ones through the power of Jesus Christ, which is how Teen Challenge helps people overcome life-controlling problems and experience 180-degree life-change!

This past year, Matthew hosted a place on his website where people from all walks of life could share their stories with him. From 20,000 entries, he captured 13 stories and translated them into music and poetry. He is now on tour across the country with these song-stories, and has invited Teen Challenge centers near his performances to join him, with VIP passes and all!

If you know of someone who is hurting and in need of a ministry like Teen Challenge to help them, sharing this song or album with them might be the very thing that gets them headed down the road of transformation and recovery! We had a 29-year-old man check into our program this week from Nebraska. He first heard about Teen Challenge on K-LOVE Radio. He wasrecently released from a detox facility after overdosing oncocaine. After he heard about Teen Challenge being discussed on the radio he began the process of reaching out for help and now he is experiencing God's love in His life!

 Even more... Matthew, EMI Music Group and their publishers have come together with Teen Challenge USA to create a music single CD of this song for an attendee bag-drop at the beginning of the upcoming National Religious Broadcasters Convention, March 2-5. I think it is pretty awesome that a guy like Matthew West would step up to help us out! Please pray that other broadcasters would want to help us get the word out so that we can help more people here in the Midlands, but also from across the country!
